| CRT home > RbDe Web Service Tutorial: Registering and logging in |
In order to access the RbDe web service, we require that you log in. This step ensures that we correctly identify the users of the system and associate them with a certain level of privileges. The service can be used with two level of privileges:
-
Guest users
This is the lowest level of privileges on the system. Anybody can login as guest and build a diagram with the service. Since we have no way to know who guest users are and there is no way to contact them in case of a problem, they are not allowed to use the diagram library save feature. Guest users can only see information (diagrams, annotations, etc) that have been marked world-accessible by the information owner. In addition, when a guest user logs out (explicitly by clicking on the logout button of the menu bar, or implicitly after the session has not been used for something like thirty minutes) the state of the work is not conserved and the guest user has to start the diagram customization from the beginning. [click on the "guest login" button, no other action is required]
-
Registered users
This is the preferred level of interaction. Users who register give us enough information to contact them and to know who they are. Registered users can use the diagram library to save information that other people can see and their session is conserved so that even when interrupted, their work with the service can be resumed at the point where it was left. [enter you user ID and the password you received by email, click on the "login" button]
-
To register for RbDe click on the "click here to register" link and fill in the provided "User record form" and click the "Validate" button (The orange fields are required and the grey fields are optional).
-
When you are finished using the RbDe web service, you can logout. This feature is provided to registered users so that they can end a RbDe session to prevent non-authorized people to change saved diagrams. To logout click on the "Logout"button in the menubar on top of the page. The service then asks for confirmation. Press "Yes"to complete the logout. A successful logout is acknowledged with the sentence "Logout completed".
-
Once a user has logged into RbDe they can import sequences and start building diagrams.
