CRT home > Procheck

[ description ]

Procheck checks the stereochemical quality of a protein structure, producing a number of PostScript plots analysing its overall and residue-by-residue geometry. The aim of Procheck is to assess how normal, or conversely how unusual, the geometry of the residues in a given protein structure is, as compared with stereochemical parameters derived from well-refined, high-resolution structures. Unusual regions highlighted by Procheck are not necessarily errors as such, but may be unusual features for which there is a reasonable explanation (eg distortions due to ligand-binding in the protein's active site). Nevertheless they are regions that should be checked carefully.

A more detailed description of the Procheck package is available from the Laskowski lab web site.

[ documentation ]

The Procheck manual is available from the Laskowski lab web site.

[ availability ]

Procheck is available on all systems.

After you have configured your account to use WMC login scripts, you can use the procheck command on the command line. Example:

$ procheck 1ca2.pdb 2.0
will analyze the structure in the 1ca2.pdb file assuming it was resolved to a 2A resolution.
