[ description ]

IntelliJ IDEA is an IDE (integrated development environment) for Java programming. IDEA 4.0 provides intelligent coding assistance and automation, advanced refactoring, J2EE support, Ant, JUnit, and CVS integrations, and code inspection among other features. The same IDE is available on UNIX, Mac, and Windows platforms, making IDEA useful for cross-platform development and testing.

[ documentation ]

The IntelliJ IDEA manual is available from the JetBrains web site. Extensive on-line help is also available from within the application.

[ availability ]

IDEA 4.0 is available on all IRIX systems. Before using IDEA on IRIX, you must obtain a license key. Instructions for obtaining keys are availble to ICB members here. When you first start idea, you will be prompted to enter a license key.

After you have configured your account to use WMC login scripts, you can use the idea command on the command line.

Although IDEA can be run remotely using X Windows, performance may be poor. Native Windows and Macintosh distributions are available; consider using those if you will be developing primarily on your PC or Mac.
